February Leagues are live
February leagues are live and for players, you can find the scenarios here.
News of the Day January 27th 2010
N.O.T.D. is here and there is plenty to talk about, so let’s get into it.
“Centurion Club for all!”
By now everyone should know that all registered users on arcanelegions.com now have access to the Unit Builder and every product in our online store. We’ve talked so much about it that I don’t want to go into every detail here, but I do want to stop and acknowledge the good people at Design Commission as well as the staff here at Wells for making this a smooth transition.
Most importantly however, the response from Original Centurion Club members and all our other players has been overwhelmingly positive. Thanks to all of you for coming on this journey with us.
More about this transition can be read here.
“iPhone App is out now!”
In case you missed it (and I know a lot of people did), the official Arcane Legions iPhone App can be downloaded for free right now. It’s a bare-bones release that replicated the functions of the website plus it has an army builder. We wanted to get something out as quickly as possible that you can use to validate custom units without being parked at a computer. And that, among other things, is what you can do with the App. Of course we would love a good review and star rating, but I won’t beg. Much.
“January League Unit Card Revisions”
There was a bit of a mix-up here at Wells H.Q. as it pertains to the unit cards distributed with the January League kits. A few of the unit cards contained alternate wordings for existing Special Abilities, in particular Sniper and Fireburst. We posted about these wordings a while back, but the short answer is that those wordings are only to be used for their scenarios. For all your future games, you can find versions of the Special Ability cards with standard wordings here.
“Chat Attack”
We had an awesome time with the folks that showed up for the first Arcane Legions chat. Thanks to everyone for being cool and Mass Action Minis for hosting. We hope to make this a monthly occurrence, so stay tuned for details on the February chat.
Some important things coming out of the chat include:
The full chat transcript.
The thread where we are taking your submissions for alternate stats for Set One figures.
The thread where we are talking about ideas for how to bring more players into Arcane Legions.
Contributions to these threads is encouraged by management :)
That's about it
Thanks for everything!
Keep playing and spread the word.

Centurion Club is Now Free For Everyone
Arcane Legions player,
By now you may have heard a rumor that the Centurion Club is being offered free-of-charge to all registered users of Arcane Legions. I'm happy to say that this is true and every original member of the Centurion Club should have received an email by now explaining this change.
One of the core values of Arcane Legions is to put as much game design and control over the play environment into the hands of the players. Your collective brainpower will help us make the best game possible. To that end, it has become obvious that the biggest tool and most unique part of Arcane Legions is the unit builder and not everyone has access to it. So this is the first change; we are going to open up the unit builder to everyone. You should have access to it within the next few days so log into www.arcanelegions.com soon to start making your own units.
Keeping with the spirit of "open-source" gaming, it is only right to allow all players access to the bigger, "formerly-exclusive", figures like the Dragons of the Far East. Beginning in March, you should see those figures start to show up in your local game store.
So what about the people who joined the Centurion Club? For starters, we are fully refunding their membership fees. In addition, as a big "Thank You", we are offering them a substantial discount on a one-time order from the Arcane Legions online store.
Any time you make an innovative & interactive product like Arcane Legions, you run the risk of having to redirect your efforts and change your offering. In this case, we feel like we are doing the right thing, for the right reasons and we are confident that the awesome people who invested in Centurion Club memberships will understand and appreciate this.
As for everyone else, we are really excited to see what you can do with the unit builder! Together we will take Arcane Legions to new heights!
There is going to be a live chat with the game's creators this Sunday, January 24th, ant 2:00pm pacific time, where we will discuss this change and more. The chat will take place at MassActionMinis.com, so see you there.
Thank you for your support and keep playing!

Replacement and Errata Unit Cards Now Available!

Replacement and Errata Unit Cards Now Available!
You may have noticed as you tore into your Arcane Legion Boosters that there were some inconsistencies. Some of the unit cards found in the Boosters (many of the loose cards and some of the commander units) were intentionally designed to use additional Booster figures not necessarily included in the same box. However, there were a couple of Unit Cards that were incorrect. These Unit Cards have now been adjusted and are now in line with the figures that you currently have. We have made all 5 Units Cards readily available for download so you don’t have to wait any longer to put your units into play.
Han Dynasty:
Egyptian Imperium:
Roman Empire:
This download is to correct an error in the original Machina Mortis card. The original card contained slots that did not fit its required figures.
We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any additional concerns, questions about the Unit Cards, or how to use the figures that you have please feel free to contact us at support@wells-expeditions.com.
Arcane Legions a Hit at Penny Arcade Expo 09!
Arcane Legions at PAX 09
September 9, 2009 (Bellevue, WA) — Wells Expeditions™ made a strong showing at PAX 09 with the upcoming Arcane Legions mass action miniatures game!

Garnering even the attention of Penny Arcade's founders, Gabe and Tycho (Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins), Arcane Legions was a huge hit at PAX this year, especially notable considering the main focus of the show, unlike most fan conventions across the country, is not on tabletop games or comic books.

With our banners unfurled and demo tables arrayed at the booth, we surprised PAX's crowd with a game that was both new and extremely exciting, needing nothing more than a table and a friend to play with. We carried the full line of Arcane Legions' initial release, including Starters, Army Packs, and Boosters, all of which flew off the shelf at an astounding pace!

Could it have had something to do with our outstanding booth staff, decked out in the finest in Roman and Egyptian fashion?
We here at Wells Expeditions were also surprised by the level of excitement shown by the visitors to the booth. For a convention full of video game players there sure seemed to be plenty of hardcore tabletop gaming fans in attendance as well, and what they saw, they loved!

All weekend long we attracted current tabletop fans as well as people young and old brand new to the genre. PAX's Free Play Halls were filled up for the entire convention with players ravenous for more Arcane Legions warfare. Be sure to visit www.arcanelegions.com for the latest developments as we near the product's worldwide release date of October 7, 2009!

GenCon All Abuzz
Arcane Legions is the talk of the Con!
August 20, 2009 (Bellevue, WA) — Wells Expeditions™ wowed the crowds at Gen Con when they debuted their initial product offering: Arcane Legions™, a new collectable mass action miniatures game.
Gen Con is often the forum where publishers show off their new offerings, and though Arcane Legions is not scheduled to release until this fall, Wells Expeditions had product available two months in advance. With a booth full of demo tables, shields looming above their heads and beautiful ladies ready to show new players how the game is played, the folks at Wells Expeditions waited to see if the crowd they hoped for would come to learn about the game. And come they did.

As soon as the hall opened, the booth filled with players of all ages eager to learn how to play and to purchase the initial Arcane Legions offerings. Though the reward for a demo was a customized fortune cookie (demos far exceeded expectations and fortune cookies ran out on Saturday morning), many players further enjoyed the free Boosters that accompanied some of the fortunes! Many learned that although the Boosters are collectable (that is, contain randomized contents), Army Packs are faction-specific, so getting the army they wanted is easy on the budget. The booth was not the only place where Arcane Legions was a huge hit. All weekend long the tournament hall was running both Constructed and Sealed events, taking up a good chunk of tables upstairs and often completely selling out event spaces — making for exciting and competitive games.
Not to mention we also had our very first King of Con Tournament Champion Christian Busch!

Wells Expeditions also got an education, having a chance to field questions from curious attendees with fresh eyes. The company elaborated on product specs, scenarios and organized play and the specific and flavorful abilities of the game’s three factions. Many answers to these questions, including descriptions of the benefits of the primary factions, are answered at ArcaneLegions.com.

Wells Expeditions could not be more pleased with the buzz surrounding Arcane Legions — buzz they hope to continue at the Seattle Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in two weeks at booth 3017. If you are in the Seattle area, this is your chance to see for yourself what everyone’s talking about!
