Nuwa
« Go backNüwa was the creator of the Chinese people. Long ago she took part in the creation of mankind, so goes the legend, by fashioning them out of yellow clay. Whatever the truth of this creature’s origin, the Night of Mists awoke a strange, large, half-snake half-human creature named Nüwa from her slumber beneath the mountains. This creature can indeed mold and animate clay, and she has agreed to create and maintain an endless horde of terracotta soldiers for Emperor Wu in exchange for him helping her to discover the location of Fuxi, her long-lost mate. Everything that Nüwa does is compelled by her desire to find Fuxi, making her susceptible to the intrigue and silver-tongued demands of Himiko, who has the audacity to manipulate this once-proud being.
Now in corporeal form, Nüwa appears in the form of a beautiful, unearthly woman with the lower body of an enormous snake. An aura of sadness and wistfulness surrounds her, and few mortals can stand being in the presence of such overwhelming emotion. Knowing the effect she has on mortals, Nüwa prefers to spend her time in the presence of her terracotta soldiers, whose impassive visages give her comfort, even as they fight and “die” on her behalf.
