Darius of Pontus
« Go backAfter the infamous Mithridatic wars, in which the Roman general Sulla pillaged the land bare in his defeat of Mithridates the Great, the Greeks held no end of malice in their hearts for their masters in Rome. Mark Anthony, now that he is at open war with that empire, has successfully wooed and united the disparate kingdoms of the Aegean under Darius of Pontus, himself heir to the legacy of Mithridates,
Along with thousands of Greek troops at his command, Darius’ alliance also provides the Imperium access to the mighty and unique centaur cavalry, who now pay tribute to Egypt as a valuable ally against a mutual enemy—the Romans. Darius is a shrewd and calculating man with a finely honed political mind. However, he is also a talented warrior, more than capable of defeating his foes at the end of his machaira. Darius is an inspiring leader, giving impressive speeches and encouraging words before, during and after battle to keep his troops loyal and eager for more. Darius’ most loyal ally, Achilles, is also one of his most bitter rivals. Though Darius rules as regent to the Greek kingdoms, Achilles refuses to accept this fact, considering that he himself can claim the same. Only the concerted attention of Cleopatra and Anthony prevent this internal feud from turning into civil war.
