Machina Mortis
Description
When the Roman Empire wooed the Slavic dvergar smiths to sell or lease them several hundred of their powerful automatons known as golems, the face of warfare changed dramatically. The sheer strength and mobility of a golem meant that each served as a “living” siege engine.
When facing particularly stubborn or implacable foes, Roman commanders group shield and sword golems together, a unit known as Machina Mortis, or “machines of death.”
Though expensive to field, the results are devastating, with the shield golems protecting their sword golem kin as they trudge toward enemy units, crushing everything beneath their ironclad feet.
